If you want to capture attention on crypto twitter, all you need to do is highlight exclusivity. That’s how the conversations would start trickling in.

In 24 hours, Monad captured more than 50% of mindshare on crypto twitter ahead of mainnet launch.

If there's anything you know about Monad is that they have a vibrant community not fueled by KOLs but by narrative and team members.

Their mainnet launch is just around the corner. What better way to turn naysayers into fans than by giving them cards?

Likkkeee they just did the damn thing! Simply launched a card claiming contest for the first 5000 top influential accounts on crypto twitter who will visit cards.monad.xyz. All they have to do is type in their twitter handle, and if they are eligible, a card designed for their handle pops up. These people do not necessarily have to care about Monad, but being recognized gives them a sense of status and could make them become believers in the brand.

Also, these 5,000 people have the opportunity to refer three others to claim their cards. It is an exclusive referral process that is thoroughly checked. You cannot abuse the privilege by referring someone who does not meet the criteria just because you have the card. From a larger perspective, Monad is looking at giving their cards to 20,000 people if each person successfully refers three persons. Now, that's a viral growth loop.

The psychology behind this is more intriguing because the cards are not for community members. They hinted that they are “saving the best for last” so more surprises await.

In anticipation, the cards could be an opportunity to not just showcase status but also to earn airdrops or amplify Monad’s content reach. Whichever way, this strategy has put more attention on Monad.

Rumour has it that projects pay Kaito up to $100k to launch on the platform and earn mindshare. More annoying is that the route to earning mindshare involves spammy content and posts from accounts that have no idea about the project but yap just to earn. Such behavior breaks the system. Monad has shown you can be authentic and still dominate the mindshare table more than those who pay for it. At least none of them has earned up to 30% mindshare for $100k.

Here are some cards that have already been claimed:

You don’t have to overthink, just do it!

Recently, an L1 chain reached out because they wanted to pull a stunt for a new update that had been shipped on the chain.

I recommended they use a simple narrative for the chain, build a stronger founder personality online and team accounts, create sticker packs, alongside mint free NFTs for users, followed by a public limited mint announced on X for the first 2,000 people. The goal was to build brand awareness ahead of a major application launch, which they said would bring liquidity into the blockchain. To my surprise, the team refused to use this strategy. They said it was beyond their reach and were shocked that I did not mention KOLs, but instead crafted a strategy that demanded they own their narrative.

You see, many founders envy strong web3 communities but detest the work it requires. You can't successfully build a strong community by hiring KOLs — many of which do not use the product.
